The City of Jacksonville Emergency Preparedness Division continues to closely monitor the weather forecast. Our partners stand ready to mobilize and respond to any extreme weather that affects Duval County.

With the continuing cold weather, the Emergency Preparedness Division is activating the Warming Center Contingency Plan. The plan states that when temperatures reach 27 degrees or colder the City of Jacksonville Warming Center will be open to residents who do not have access to adequate heat. Accordingly, it will be open:
 
The City of Jacksonville (COJ) Warming Centers will be open along the following schedule through 9am on Saturday morning, January 25:
 
Overnight (Monday-Friday, 9pm-9am)
The Legends Center

Daytime (Monday, 11am-6pm)

Daytime (Tuesday-Friday, Normal Business Hours)

The National Weather Service Jacksonville has issued a Freeze Warning for Monday night. They have high confidence of an extended duration of dangerously cold temperatures and wind chills tonight through Thursday. Nightly freezes and dangerous wind chills will remain through Saturday.

The National Weather Service has issued a Freeze Warning for Sunday night as an Arctic front brings wind chill temperatures in the low 20s by Monday morning. This dangerous cold weather outbreak with “feels like” temperatures in the 20s is expected to last through Thursday with a chance for freezing rain on Tuesday and Wednesday.

As an Arctic front approaches Duval County, residents are urged to take immediate steps to prepare for the coldest temperatures of the season. Starting Sunday night, the region is expected to experience prolonged freezing conditions, with dangerously cold wind chills dipping into the 20s.
