Traffic crashes occur every 12 seconds in the United States. Vehicle crashes are the number ONE cause of death among young adults.
Are you a licensed "Teen Driver," ages 16–19, who would like to learn more about safe driving and lives in Duval County? Do you have access to a safe and insured vehicle you can use while taking this class?
If so, you meet the requirements to take the Teen Driver Challenge, a two-day "hands-on" education program held at the Northeast Florida Criminal Justice Training and Education Center. Participate in this class and you will be more prepared to drive safely.
DAY ONE: The Classroom
Students participate in a four-hour
session that will cover the following topics:
- Teen Crash Facts
- Knowing Your Vehicle
- Use Common "Senses" When Driving
- Belt Yourself, It Won't Hurt
- Vehicle Dynamics
- Safe Driving Can be Habit Forming
- Alcohol, the $8000 Drink
- Aggressive Driving
- Driving Exercises
DAY TWO: The Driving Range 
Students participate in an
eight-hour driving class at the Northeast Florida Criminal Justice Training and Education Center Driving Range. Each student will practice the following exercises to develop defensive driving skills:
- Figure 8
- Threshold Breaking
- Forward Serpentine
- Reverse Serpentine
- Cornering
- Off Road Recovery

- $50 deposit (cash or check) refunded after successful completion of the two-day class
- Valid Drivers License
- Registration of the vehicle you will be using during the class-Sport Utility Vehicles are NOT recommended
- Proof of insurance
